How to be thrilled with who you are

Thank you so much for reading my newsletter. Let’s begin with something funny.

A lady comes home from her doctor’s appointment grinning from ear to ear. Her husband asks, “Why are you so happy?” The wife says, “The doctor told me that for a 45-year-old woman, I have the breasts of a 18-year-old.” “Oh yeah?” quipped her husband, “What did he say about your 45-year-old ass?” She said, “Your name never came up in the conversation.”

I want to talk to you today about how to be thrilled with who you are.

And I don’t mean just being content with simply coasting through life. I’m talking about waking up in the morning with the biggest smile on your face ready to conquer the world just because you are who you are. So if you feel your morning smile could use a little lift, continue reading.

I’m going to share three simple life lessons that will unleash the badass within.

  1. YOU’RE UNIQUE — ACCEPT IT

So, you have a naturally big butt, or you’re shorter than average. Big deal! If you keep dwelling on what society defines as beautiful or acceptable you will never live to your full potential. After all, if everyone was the same, it would be a pretty boring world, right?

Focus more on what makes you special. What is it that draws people to you? Maybe it’s your hilarious sense of humor or amazing voice. Maybe it’s your passion for helping others or your ability to motivate people. Whatever it is, bring it out so everyone can see it. Under no circumstances should you ever play the victim. You are not born to be a victim, you are born to be a victor.

If actor Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister on Game Of Thrones) was self-conscious about his size , the world may have never discovered his incredible talent.

  1. SHARE YOUR GIFTS WITH THE WORLD

What’s more exciting than sharing something positive with the rest of the world?

I call it contribution. Once you have discovered your “special gift,” spread the joy. If fitness is your thing, go and inspire others to live a healthy life. What a great gift! If laughter is what you are good at, then make people laugh. God knows how much the world needs to laugh more. You will find out that giving is far more rewarding than receiving. No wonder Santa Claus is always happy. His life revolves around giving, right?

  1. YOU’RE A WORK IN PROGRESS — THE BEST IS YET TO COME

One of our characteristics as humans is the drive to improve, to be better. That’s how we advance as a species. We all want to be better than we were the day before. And that means taking care of yourself first. Eat healthy foods while allowing the occasional indulgence. Drink one more glass of water a day and make sure you get enough sleep. Take care of yourself first.

So what have we learned?

The more you move and eat right, the better you’ll feel. The better you feel, the more thrilled you are with yourself, and the more thrilled you are with yourself, the more you’ll want to contribute and spread joy to those around you. As you can see, it begins with you. Are you ready?
