Laurent's 5 tips for the holidays
I know, I know. You are probably thinking, “ here we go again!! Another video full of tips on how to keep me healthy and fit for the holidays.
Look, you can either go through the holiday season gaining the average pound, or you can “listen” to me and end up feeling great while enjoying the festivities.
And what are those tips? Glad you asked.
1- Eat before going to a party. A no brainer but if you are like 90% of people who “save” calories for the parties, you are setting yourself up for failure. Instead, opt for high fiber foods that will keep you satisfied. You can still try out a few things at the buffet, but you’ll end up having more control.
2- Ask yourself the following question before you hit the buffet“how does this extra slice of pie fit in my health plan?” I know it may taste good and you’ll feel happy for a minute, but always think of how guilty you’ll feel after. Plus, you can still get your fix by having a taste here and there of your favorite desert without going overboard.
3- Exercise earlier during the day. You know how crazy the holidays are. If you think you’ll do your workout at the end of your day, you are wrong. It gets busy and you’ll end up blowing your workout for the 14th time in a row. Instead, wake up a little earlier and get it over with. You’ll be happy you did.
4- If you can’t fit a full workout in the morning, try fitting 3, 10 to 15 minutes fitness breaks at work. You will feel energized all day. Now, you don’t need to do 1 million burpees, squats and pushups (you can if you want too), but just by moving your body in any way, will make you feel amazing.
5- Avoid alcohol but if you intend to imbibe fermented juices, make sure you drink plenty of water. How much water? It depends on your weight. Divide your weight in pounds by 2. That’s the amount of ounces you need to drink during the day if you plan on drinking. So if you weight 150 pounds, you need to drink 75 ounces of water.
So there it is. 5 tips to keep you fit and healthy for the holidays.
